London Taxi Head Office Case Study

London Taxi Head Office Case Study

The Customer
London Taxi Corporation announced the official opening of their brand new state-of-the-art electric hybrid vehicle manufacturing facility on March 22nd 2017 at Ansty Park in Coventry. All Right Now have been proud to be a small part in this prestigious manufacturing project.
The Challenge
London Taxi’s new £300m head office facility was an extremely complex project of which the turnstiles in particular were a relatively minor part in terms of cost. However, in terms of impact on the building they represent a key part of the security infrastructure. Working on such a large project involves communication and coordination with a number of stakeholders and it is almost inevitable that things do not go exactly according to plan. Communication, attention to detail and an ability to be flexible are key in any project but especially in one of this size and complexity.

The challenge for the team at All Right Now was to coordinate across a number of stakeholders and partners. The key stakeholders were:

• London Taxi Facilities Management
• London Taxi IT Department
• Winvic (the main contractor)
• Walter Miles (the M&E contractor)
• Thomson AVC (access control sub-contractors)

The Solution
The solution comprised the following key components:
• 6 Fastlane® Glasswing turnstiles from the UK manufacturer IDL including remote operation capability
• Integrated Paxton® access control
• Glass and stainless steel infill
The IDL Fastlane turnstile was chosen for its industry-leading technology, the fact that it is a UK based company and its looks. Fitting in with the surroundings in terms of both look and feel was important for a head office facility. DDA width lanes were used so as to avoid the need for a separate DDA lane saving both on cost and space. All Right Now’s advice was key in the early stages of the project to ensure the most effective and efficient configuration of the turnstiles.

Inevitably a number of issues arose during the installation and it was important that these were dealt with professionally and without blame to ensure the right end result for the customer. All Right Now were also asked at short notice to add some small elements to the project which had through no-one’s fault been overlooked.

Close cooperation with Thomson AVC who were installing the Paxton access control equipment was essential in order to ensure the correct operation of the system.

Chris Fincham, Commercial Manager, says:

“I found All Right Now a pleasure to deal with and appreciated their attention to detail. They were always professional, reacted promptly to any issues arising and were proactive in ensuring the smooth running and completion of the project on time and on budget.”
